Hey Data Punks!
We hope your summer is going well wherever you are. 😎 We've been busy here at Data Punk Media and wanted to get you a few updates.
New Data Stories
We've recently published two new multi-part data stories, which include background info, analytics, data and code.
The Coachella Effect
Coachella attracts festival goers from around the world and is increasingly a key platform to help artists reach a global audience and hit new levels of success.
In this multi-part series authored by Caitlin, we explore the "Coachella Effect," which is the impact the festival has on an artist's career. We look at it through the lens of four Spotify metrics to see if we can predict the next big breakout artist. It's a unique and interesting story, and we cover specific artists and give you a bonus on how to use the Spotify API to create your own analytics apps.

From Backyard to Bridge: The Reece James Story
Those in the world of European football likely know the name Reece James, but did you know he was a soccer prodigy at six years old and already part of the Chelsea FC system? In this four-part series authored by Parth, you'll learn about Reece and his family – which also has soccer legends in it.
It's an awesome journey across the life of a football star who still dominates on the world stage.

Learning
We have two announcements to make: one around our new Data Storytelling and AI course and that our Sports Data Storytelling virtual workshop is now open for registration.
We're continuing our push to create data storytelling courseware with a new ten-module email course on Data Storytelling and AI. In this course, we explore how to use AI across different parts of the Data Storytelling lifecycle. By the end of the course, you'll have the skills to cut through the hype on AI and truly know where to use it in all phases of the storytelling lifecycle.
We're three modules into the ten and there's already too much in this space to cover in just one course.
To get started, check out the Getting Started page!
